The standards desk
Our standard of plausibility
Every claim published in Thesis Registry is reviewed against our standard of plausibility. A finding may be improbable, inadvisable, or physically impossible; it may never be implausible. Manuscripts that fail this review are returned to the author with a note of congratulations.
Our peer review process is conducted by the readership, in public, after publication. This is faster than the conventional arrangement and has never once been shown to be worse.
A necessary disclosure
Thesis Registry is a work of satire. Every study, expert, institution, and finding on these pages is fictional. Any resemblance to real research is coincidental, and is best read as a comment on the state of real research.
How publishing works
- Anyone may submit a finding through the submission desk. No credentials are required; plausible ones will be assumed if omitted.
- To protect the integrity of the record, a single desk may file at most five findings per hour. Urgent nonsense must wait its turn.
- Readers take part in peer review by endorsing or disputing each finding. Three reader concerns are sufficient to withdraw a finding from public view pending further certainty.
- Corrections are accepted through the one-time link issued at publication. If the link has been lost, the finding stands.
Retractions
Retractions are available on request, provided the request is made in writing and accompanied by a better finding. The desk reserves the right to stand by everything.
